August Wedding in Western MA

Updated: Aug 2

On a radiant August day, we had the joy of participating in the enchanting wedding of Jess and Emily at Gloriosa & Co in scenic western Massachusetts. This charming venue in Ashfield set the stage for a day filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments.

Gloriosa & Co, renowned for its rustic charm and picturesque settings, offered a perfect backdrop for Jess and Emily’s special day. This historic venue, with its sprawling gardens surrounding the Curtis House, a charming 1850s Dutch Colonial, is known for its dedication to hosting heartfelt events that reflect the unique personalities of the couple.

The lush green lawns and the intimate, cozy atmosphere of the fully restored late 19th century barn is ideal for creating a warm and inviting wedding experience.

The event was joyfully captured on camera by Boston-based wedding photographer Nicole Adrienne and on film by Paola and Jesse from Salt + Pine Films.

Event Highlights

Ceremony

The ceremony was a heartfelt affair held in a verdant field under a hazy sky, where Jess and Emily exchanged beautifully vulnerable and meaningful vows amidst a circle of family and friends, full of laughter and joyful tears.

We provided live acoustic music for the entirety of the ceremony, including a soft, reflective version of The Proclaimers’ classic hit “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles).”

Cocktail Hour

Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed a lively cocktail hour in the yard, where they were treated to a variety of handcrafted drinks and light appetizers. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement and joy as guests mingled and celebrated the newlyweds.

Jess and Emily welcomed their guests and invited their parents and close friends to say a few words of congratulations to celebrate their big day.

Guests enjoyed walking the property’s many beautiful gardens and exploring its greenhouse. Special touches were added by the custom photo booth, elegantly crafted and manned by Spike Events, and the audio guestbook, on which guests were encouraged to leave spoken messages for the newlyweds.

Our music selections for the cocktail hour included a mix of classic folk and soul tunes to complement the laid-back atmosphere and rustic setting.

Dinner/Reception

The reception took place in the charming 19th century barn, where guests savored a farmhouse-style dinner prepared with local ingredients, surrounded by exquisite floral arrangements curated by the venue team.

The highlight of the reception was undoubtedly Jess and Emily’s choreographed first dance, which they set to the Betty Who version of “I Love You Always Forever.” This led directly into the dance party, with DJ Erika playing a mix of pop, rock, and hip-hop for all ages.  We also worked in a live acoustic version of the hora that got all of the guests up on their feet in celebration.

The evening concluded with our ever-popular Acoustic Singalongs, which Jess and Emily were particularly excited about. Highlights included a reprise of “500 Miles” and an all-out version of 4 Non-Blondes’ “What’s Up.”
